Food nourishes our bodies, it connects us with others and to our culture. At Scarborough Food Security Initiative, our mission is to make good food easily accessible to everyone in our community.
Scarborough Food Security Initiative has identified a need for a new food bank in the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Oakridge Community.
At Oakridge Food Bank, we believe that access to nutritious food is a human right. Our vision is that everyone in our community has access to safe, nutritious, culturally-appropriate, and affordable food.
However, we recognize that many people do not have this access yet, and the food bank is a place to bridge that gap. Our hope is to provide a community hub where community members can experience a low-barrier, dignified space to access nutritious food, as well as a place of belonging, and a greater connection to the Oakridge community.
